A Keyboard Wall Mount!
Still coming up with a name
Hey
Geekhack!
I’d like to share something that I’ve been
working on for a while now to see if there’s any demand from
the community before getting deeper into the process! I’ve
been lurking around the community for a while, do a few
streams here and there, but this is the first thing I’ve
tried to design and as far as I know, there is nothing else
on the market like this.
It all started on one of
Taeha’s streams a couple months ago and we were talking
about all the awesome keebs on the market, but not enough
ways to display them. I realized then that everything
currently available takes up space - desk space, shelf
space…but what if they didn’t need to?
I set off on a
journey with some good friends who have product design
experience to create a solution to display keyboards without
taking up shelf or desk space. What if you could mount them
on a wall? All the current DIYs have a peg board or
something else sticking out, detracting visually from the
keyboard itself. My main goal was to make a keyboard look
like it was floating on the wall as much as possible -
showing it off in all its glory with nothing else getting in
the way.
The mount is composed of 4 pieces: 2 wall
mount pieces and 2 arm pieces. The mount is modular and can
extend to widen the available distance for the arms to
slide. This gives the user flexibility to set the arms
exactly where they want to support the keyboard. The mount
and arms have been designed to be hidden behind most
keyboards from 40% to full size, having only a little lip in
the front show.
This is currently just a 3D-printed
proof of concept prototype and needs a lot more work to be
more refined, but before I continue down this path to figure
out final materials and honing the design, I wanted to see
if anyone else in the community would be interested or have
any suggestions!

Sorry for the crappy pics. Wife would only let me
continuously make holes to wall-mount something in the
garage where the lighting is really bad
