Hello again everybody,
I’m Upas, from CannonKeys. You
might know me from the Satisfaction 75 (which unfortunately
is delayed again). But a delay there means a new opportunity
for one of my other designs to run - the Brutal 60.
Note: All images in this post are PHOTOS, not
renders!

The Brutal 60 is roughly inspired by the
Boston City Hall - an iconic example of Brutalist
architecture. It features a wider top than bottom, and
aggressive chamfer where the top meets the bottom. When
looking at it, the seam you see on many boards is hidden. So
in a sense, it’s a seamless design!
Here are some of the technical details:
Aluminum
top and bottom
White FR4 plate offered in both ISO and
ANSI, Tsangan or Standard, with split Rshift, stepped caps,
split backspace
FR4 ALPS plates are available as
addons
No PCB included
Burger mount (top) - 12
o-rings will be provided with every kit
7.5 degree
angle
20 mm front height (Same as Tofu)
34 mm back
height
Acoustic polyfill will be provided for the
interior
Weighs 1 kg (2.2 lbs) without
plate/PCB/switches
I have already done a
production run of this keyboard for a smaller, private GB. I
intended to run this after the Satisfaction75 group buy, but
given the delays, I can move up the timeline. Given that
this has already been produced with high quality, this IC
phase will be relatively quick. Once enough interest has
been expressed, I will move into the GB phase. Fulfillment
should also be relatively quick, given I already have a
great factory lined up.
Here is a sound test of the board, with the acoustic
polyfill inside, with lubed gat yellows, o rings for the
burger mount, and an FR4 plate.

The target cost will be no more than $200 including
shipping (to the US - my apologies to others!). I can’t
promise that I’ll achieve this price point, but that is the
goal. One thing to note - this is a 60% that’s on the
cheaper side. Which means the bar for quality will not be as
high as something like the keycult no 1. As an example, here
are a few damages that would still be considered A-stock,
with justification.
In this image, the dent is right under the seam. It’s
not possible to see when placed on a desk, and very
minor.
In this image, the dent is so small that it wouldn’t
be visible once the board is assembled.
In general,
large defects to visible faces will make a board B stock.
But minor issues, small issues that won’t be visible, or
small dents on the bottom of the case that are not visible
when the keyboard are on the desk will not cause a B stock
evaluation.
This might change your interest in this
board, but the idea here it to make this a very accessible,
but beautiful case design that people can buy.
I may
also offer carbon fiber plates as an option for this GB, but
the layouts will be more limited.
