This will use an updated architecture that I’ve been working on. If 268 was V2 .1, this is V2.1 .2. There have been a few changes needed just to work out any kinks etc; nothing notable though.
With this, I just want a perfectly matching TKL + pad (all info will cover both). The design will stay classy and very simple. The main change is increasing bezels from 4.6/3mm to 6/4mm - I think this will work much better aesthetically. I felt that 268 was almost too thin at first (although now it’s really nice). I’ve also increased the corner fillet, increased the edge fillet a tiny bit, increased the size of the N cutout by >.5mm, and kept pretty much everything else the same. I think it works very well as is.
I’ll either have the PCB green or red; it’d be interesting to hear what people think on this. Planning USB-C, this probably won’t change. Sorry about your cables, but it’s time for an upgrade! ;)
I’d also like to do a limited version (probably 1 of 30) where participants can choose anodizing color freely, similar to what happened with 268 AG. I think it’s going to bring some really interesting builds/combinations. Matching custom colored TKL + pad sounds dreamy to me. :'(
There will be 99% 100% be a winkey version for the TKL; just too lazy to mock it up (it isn’t hard to imagine!) - I doubt I’ll won’t do small blockers as I don’t think they’re that great. Standard key choice things: split backspace/right shift/left shift; stepped caps; ISO enter; maybe 1.25u bottom row; no split spacebar crap. Numpad will have all split keys available, and no additional blockers.
Keeping the starting price sub $400 for the TKL, and sub $175 (complete guess though) is my main goal here. I’m not too sure what the price increase from 65% to 80% is, but it shouldn’t be enough that it requires a $30 increase lol. Planning on starting this shortly after I finish 268/268 AG, which will be next month (hopefully)! Probably a 3 month turnaround.
