Ever felt the need to have almost 200 keys on your keyboard?
No? Neither had I until recently.
I should probably
explain this project a little, initially it started out as
me needing something to put 200 blank keycaps on that I’d
bought. I was going to handwire the whole thing but
/u/yiancar came along and offered to design a PCB for the
project. I could hardly refuse the offer.
The name for
the project isn’t final yet but I’m thinking “Squared” since
you know, it’s a 14x14 square.
Production will be
fairly limited unless there is significant interest
It’s
going to be 14x14, all 1u keys. It supports Alps/Matias
switches and MX style switches.
There are SMD LEDs and
they can be controlled in the following modes:
All LEDs
on or off with brightness control, cycling rows with
different brightness and stationary individual rows and
brightness control.
No plans for RGB on this design of
the PCB maybe next time or one of our other projects
The renders show microUSB but we’re more likely to
go with miniUSB in the end, there will also be a physical
reset button for programming.
Some renders of the PCB
can be found here:

Yes the PCB will most likely be made in red unless
people really really don’t like the look of that.

We’re still getting quotes on how much it would cost
to get mounting plates made for these.
It’s not too
late for us to make some changes to the design so all
feedback will be greatly appreciated along with what you’d
like to see as the next PCB/Keyboard.
If you have any
questions I’m happy to answer
