Idea & Inspiration
I’ve
been using the GMK CMYW mod pack for a month now, and just
can’t get over how gorgeous the Magenta (MG1) looks. It’s
easily my favorite color in GMK’s repertoire and I know of
several others who feel the same. This led to me thinking -
why not design an entire keyset around it?
I’ve decided
on 2M as the secondary color to complement MG1. I feel that
both colors play nicely off each other with just the right
amount of contrast. Using pure white (WS1) did come into
consideration, but I found the contrast a little too
bright/too jarring while making comparisons, plus there
is already an abundance of X-on-WS1 GMK sets on the market.
The decision to go with an off-white color alongside MG1
also forms the basis for the set’s name.
Finally, I’m
also toying with the idea of including a small accent kit
(V4 on MG1) for that subtle-yet-distinct spark which also
serves to enhance this set’s identity. I hope the accent kit
will be well-received, but am open to tweaking
it/swapping it out for other keys based on feedback
from the community.

Key Features
(subject to change)
87 key ANSI base kit + 17
key numpad
Text + Icon mods
Bumped homing keys
because scoops are prone to light bleed
Winkeyless
kit, currently includes two 1u R4 blanks which will probably
get omitted to cut cost
1800 adapter kit
4-key
accent kit (Esc, backspace, enter, caps lock)
Please
comment below if you think additional features are
necessary, but do bear in mind that the price GMK has quoted
for this set in its current form is already a little on the
high side. My current priority is making this set ISO
compatible without it undergoing a drastic price
increase.
GB Info/About Me
GMK requires a minimum order of 150 sets for this GB
to come to fruition.
If the response to this IC is
positive, I will be looking to run the GB on my own instead
of partnering up with a vendor (purely in the interest of
passing down as much savings as possible). I have experience
in setting up/operating multiple webstores in the past
and would be comfortable with creating one for this GB. In
terms of operations and logistics, I am equipped to handle
up to 250 orders but I highly doubt well reach anywhere near
that figure.
For the best interests of the community, I
shall try to implement a system where people can opt to pay
a deposit instead of the full amount (similar to what
Justnits did for his
9009 buy). The mechanics of this are still being fine-tuned as I’ll
probably have to front some money out of my own pocket.
As
for myself: I’ve been a mechanical keyboard user since 2013
and joined Geekhack in late-2015. I’m Malaysian and I
moderate our
local keyboard forum
as well as the
Malaysian MKB Facebook Group. I’m not sure what more to say here, but if theres
anything else youd like to know about me, feel free to
ask!
