Greetings everyone! Here is MM studio
Now that the Class65 our previous work, has come to
an end,
we still gonna put our original spirit into our
new project,
the Class80, a keyboard
with a glimpse of the good ol’ days.
Retro is a kind of sentiment, Class80 is just like
that.
With the light retro style design,Class80 reminds me
of the days playing FAMICOM/SNES
(or what every
console you were playing at young age..)
with couple
friends. Can you feel the nostalgia?
God, I have
goosebumps writing these lines..
Therefore, in the
position of the forehead, we use the classic cassette
model,
which not only has symmetrical aesthetics, add a
lot of retro feeling into it.
Well, except this time
you cant put a cassette in there, but its a pretty cool pen
tray
Big size with comfort
Class 80
inherits the wide bezel design of Class 65,
which is
39.34cm long, 18.95cm wide and weighs about 3.5kg
unbuilt,
believe us, its massive…
In addition, in
order to meet the ergonomic,
we made a 1.6cm tilted
chin and the whole board’s typing angle is 7°.
In the back of class80, we made a slope to maintain
the stereoscopic design.
And we also followed the
FAMICOM/SNES stripe design to carve parallel lines in
the back.
In order to strengthen the boards theme and
break the single
and heavy feeling of the boards
sideview,
we deliberately cncd a tolerance line on
it.
Also, we put a Famicom/SNES controller-like
weight in the back of the keyboard(same as Class65V2),
which
can be take apart from the board too.
Retro colors
This time on the
Class80, we retain the classic E-white of the Class65,
but
more than this we also added an E-red which is one of the
most representative color of that era.
Meanwhile, the
Class80 will have black Translucent PC version available,
what
kind of sparks will collide between the PC material
and
Class80 remains a question to be found out by you.
Keycaps
This time, we couldnt
let the chance slip to make a set of retro keycaps,
which
will be released with the Class80,
so you can purchase
the keycaps together when ordering the kit.
The color
is close to GMK L9 and U9, but with subtle color
adjustments.
Inside the Keyboard
Therell be
both wired and Bluetooth version Class80 this time.
The
Bluetooth versions battery is 5000mAh and its also available
for customized keymap.
Both version will have Capslock
light.
We also improve the inner brass weight design
this time by adding screws on it to avoid scraping the
bottom case.
The PCB structure is also improved comparing to the
Class65.
The single S PCB leaf spring structure was
changed to Double S,
visually extending the symmetrical
feeling, and also retain the original soft typing
experience.
At the same time, the Class80 will continue
support plateless builds or
are you ready?
-
with plate in gasket mount or top mount (full plate or
half plate) for everyone to choose freely.
PS: Wired PCB has hot-swap and Solder version, Bluetooth version only supports hot-swap.
One last bombshell, as a classic retro kit, how could it be without a buzzer?
/evilsmile/
Yeah, we’ll be adding the buzzer sound you normally hear on a retro keyboard to the Class80.

and pls make sure to give feedback on the board on the IC FORM
