Hello GeekHack,
I have been working on a
numpad/macro-pad that fits a niche I haven’t seen filled
yet: open-source PCB, support for the QMK firmware, and no
microcontroller board necessary.
The latest prototype,
v0.9, adds per-switch LED support, RGB backlighting, and has
a smaller PCB.
It is also Certified Open Source Hardware!

USB numpad with standard layout, extra keys, macro
support, in-switch LEDs, and RGB backlighting. Will support
the QMK firmware on launch. Requires 21 switches (MX, Alps,
Choc), 21 keycaps, and a case.
STM32F103C8T6
microcontroller, USB-C port. Access the bootloader by
holding backspace (top-right key) while plugging in the
board.
Features include:
Full n-key rollover
-
Standard PC numpad layout for keycap compatibility, with an extra row spaced 1/3u up.
-
Fully programmable, with macro support and Fn key.
Depending on interest, group buy may include four different types of cases: FR4 sandwich-style plates
Stacked acrylic case and plates
Machined aluminum case and plates
-
3D-printed plastic case and plates
All of the case files will be released under open-source licenses, so you can manufacture your own case variants like wood cases.
The price is targeted at around $25-30 for the PCB with all components. This may change depending on the features requested by the community.
