We are MechWild, a new 3
person keyboard studio based in the US. Today we are
announcing our first board, the Big Dill Extended. Weve
talked about this board extensively on other platforms
previously but we are making it official with this GeekHack
thread today.
If you already have thoughts and feedback
on this board from previous interactions with us, here is
the IC Form link. If you want to do some more learning about
the BDE, keep reading and therell be another IC form link

Simply put, this is an ortholinear 30% + numpad
throughhole kit with Kailh hotswap. The PCB is flippable to
allow right handed or southpaw numpad. Enough about the
inner workings, what will the case be?
Since this is a pickle themed board, the only logical
choice is to contain all of this in a sandwich case. Our
goal with this board is to provide an affordable,
accessible, through hole kit that utilizes hotswap and a
unique layout. Our target price for this board is between 35
and 50 USD. It is a sandwich case board so it wont be the
most dill-uxe in your collection but we know youll have a
lot of fun building and using it.
The keyboard uses a
simple sandwich case. Two FR4 plates, standoffs, and some
screws. To assemble the PCB, you will need to solder the Pro
Micro, diodes, and hotswap sockets to the board. After that,
its your typical plugging in of the switches and screwing
together of the case.
Our prototype is assembled and it
looks great! Only a few changes need to be made as far as
fit and alignment go but that won’t change the appearance of
the board in any major way.
