Daedalus by Aether Hemera
Hello there.
We are proud to present our first addition to this
community. Inspired by the creativity of the craftsman from
Greek mythology Daedalus.

Thank you for all your responses to the poll
We
received far more responses than we expected and that
allowed us to finalize a few decisions about what we will be
offering with the board.
We have ordered a prototype
and it should be here in a few weeks.
Specifications
Case:
-Aluminum 6063 case
-6.5
degree typing angle
-18mm front height
-Isolation
Gasket Mount (We are testing between two choices, we’ll be
able to better determine with a prototype)
We will be
offering choice of HHKB blockers
Plate:
-ANSI (ISO if there is high demand)
-
Polished Bronze (Finishing may change)
-We will be making the plate in blasted brass
Weight:
We are currently running a poll to chose between a few different weight designs of varying complexity. Please let us know what you think.

-We will be doing the weight in blasted brass with the circular maze as that was the most popular choice. We also removed the Daedalus branding from the weight to give it a cleaner look. The bottom is coated in chrome for the reflective look.
PCB:
-Maarten Plain60-C Rev2 with USB-C daughterboard
Layouts(Plate):
We will be offering an ANSI Tsangan layout. Further layouts may be included if there is high demand.
Price:
-The price is tentatively set at $420
Colors:
The color selection for the group buy is as follows: - Black
- Blue(naming still under review)
-
E-White (we quite liked this color once we started looking
at it more)

We plan to run 100 boards and most likely FCFS
FAQ
New Studio:
We may be new to the development scene, but we are not new to keyboards. We are both avid keyboard enthusiasts and have been participants in this community for a while. We are working hard to ensure that this keyboard lives up to the great legacy that all the other creators on this platform have worked hard to build.
Updates:
We have the blue prototype in hand and are looking through it to make sure it fits our standards.
We ordered some 3D prints which led to us making some internal changes in the design to make the pieces fit better. Edits such adjusting the cutout on the weight for the JST cable and connector and the USB cutout to fit larger cables.
Next Steps:
We are planning on ordering prototypes of the other two colors and once we receive those we will be able to set a GB date.
We are currently looking at obtaining prototypes of the board manufactured we have been looking around and we should soon have more information with regards to that soon.
More
We are currently experimenting with a 3D printed prototype
of our design so that we can finalize all the small details
about our components. We will post updates on this when they
are available.
We will continue to improve our renders
and designs as we go. We plan to get some renders with key
caps up soon.
After that we will move onto CNC’d
prototypes and find a manufacturer we can work with for the
GB.
During this period of time we will continue to
accept community feedback and modify our design as we go.
This is our first keyboard so the process will be a little
slower, but we hope to have the GB up in the next few
months.

All renders, designs, materials, colors and anything
else on this IC is a work in progress and may not be
representative of the final product. NOTHING IS FINAL until
the GroupBuy goes live and until then we will continuously
work to improve this design in as many ways as possible.
First Keyboard:
While we have been involved in other projects in this
community as consumers before, this is our first time
jumping in ourselves. We have a lot to learn throughout this
process and we do not plan on cutting any corners. This is
our initial design and we have many aspects that need to be
tested and finalized before we can ship this product out to
be enjoyed by all of you. Please stick by us and offer your
advice as we prototype and adapt our keyboard into the best
it can be.
