The Moiie Keypad

An Apple iie inspired keypad for the lovers of vintage mechs.

CURRENTLY JUST GATHERING INTEREST IN THIS HERE GOOGLE FORM
Let me know your thoughts!
The Mo/iie/ came to me in a dream many moons ago. We see all these vintage/retro inspired keysets, full keyboards, cables…
But where are my macro/key pads?!
The Inspiration

My Vision of a Modern Revision (renders)

Currently Gathering interest for both 3D Printed and CNC Milled Units
After a few weeks on my desk, I absolutely love the idea of having this be a UNIT of Milled Metal on my desk as a classy keypad but Realistically, I’m very very aware of what that would cost to mill. Not everyone is ready to shill out somewhere in the neighborhood of $150-$200 (estimate, depending on interest) for a keypad.
But none this less gathering interest. 3D Printed version GB/Stock run is likely to happen before any type of further, more serious mass production run begins to be looked into.
The Project Specs - Most are very subject to change.
• The PCB

  • /Gathering interest for compatibility options/ (MX/ALPS/CHOC, Etc.)
  • x3 Ind. Addressable RGB LED Indicators
  • x3 Spots for Rotary Encoder Positioning
  • USB Type-C
  • Fully Powered by QMK Firmware
  • Decent Layout Compatibility:

    • The Case
  • 7° Steep Typing Angle
  • “Floating Bed” Styled Case
  • Inset Switch Beveling
  • 4mm Integrated Switch Plate (/*/Very Tentative/)
  • Two-Part Case, Accentuating the seam because life’s too short to be seamless.
  • No fills, just class
    • VERY interested in looking into these features:
  • Integrated Cable. Some like this, some hate this, but I think it fits the theme very well and one less Cable to have to wear out I suppose lol
  • Brass weight. If we do CNC, it will already be expensive. So if we ball out…we are gonna BALL OUT.
  • Analog Sliders. This is iffy but I love the idea. QMK needs to have more clear support before this though.
  • Maybe Hotswap. I could see this happening

• 3D Printed Prototype

Cost?!

  • 3D Printed - Sub $75.00 USD Full Kit
  • CNC Milled - */Minimum $150.00 USD Full Kit (yikes)
/*Depends in many, many things (Interest, Material, COVID, Etc.)
    When and Now, Also, When?
    No time frame currently. A smaller fun GB is what I’m wanting to do first while gathering interest. So fill out the google form;

To get on the list if you are at all interested in something like the Mo iie.
I also post a lot of smaller little updates on smaller projects like this on My Instagram too if that’s something you like to browse.
Thanks for your input if you give any at all! Would love to see something like this throughout the community.
